The next commitment of the Government's responsibility must contain, in addition to aspects related to local administration, also things related to central administration, as well as an economic recovery package, stated on Friday, in Slatina, the interim president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu.

"The next commitment of responsibility, in addition to things, and I will detail - those related to local administration, the next commitment of the Government's responsibility, if it is to be, must also contain things related to the central administration, mandatory and also mandatory from the PSD perspective and this is a PSD decision, it is not mine, it is PSD's, it must contain an economic recovery package. We came up with proposals (...) that we submitted to the coalition, because you cannot talk nonstop only about cuts, layoffs, tax increases, without trying to come up with public policies that lead to economic growth, to stimulating the economy, and that is what we proposed. So, from our point of view, these three things are mandatory", said Grindeanu in a press conference held alongside the party's general secretary, Paul Stănescu, and the PSD Olt president, Marius Oprescu.

Grindeanu pointed out that regarding local administration, the social democrats are supporters of decentralizing decisions regarding spending cuts.

"At the local administration, we have tried to explain, all these weeks, that it is better to discuss reducing expenses versus reducing personnel. We have not yet reached a common point of view, but we are supporters, we will see, I will not tell you a conclusion, we are also supporters of decentralization. That is, I want a mayor, I don't know, from Caracal, to leave it to him and the Local Council to decide how to reduce expenses, through certain layoffs or through certain reductions in public spending. And the Local Council, together with the mayor, to make this decision," Grindeanu added.

The PSD leader stated that staff reductions would not bring added value, and state budget expenditures would be reduced by 1.2 billion lei if the laid-off people did not become unemployed and by about 700 - 800 million RON if they did become unemployed, therefore he believes that these issues must be addressed according to the specifics of each locality.

"I don't think you're adding value if you just take one path and say: sir, people have to go home. What are you doing? What reductions? Do you know the total amount or the savings, I can't even call it savings, please, how much would be reduced at the national level on this system? Somewhere around 1.2-1.3 billion lei. That means 250 million euros per total national budget. That's if all those people I fire don't become unemployed and the state doesn't come to pay from the state, and then we're not talking about 1.2-1.3 billion, we're probably talking about a saving of about 800 million, 700. Then isn't it more correct to try to approach it according to the specifics of each locality and what the Local Council and the mayor want? That's what I proposed and here we differ in approach, in vision "we, those from PSD, versus what the prime minister wants," Sorin Grindeanu pointed out.

The interim president of the PSD participated on Friday, together with the party's general secretary, Olt senator Paul Stănescu, at the Extraordinary Conference of the PSD Olt in order to designate delegates to the congress on November 7. At the same time, the participants in the Extraordinary Conference of the PSD Olt voted to support the candidacy of the president of the county organization, Marius Oprescu, for the position of first vice-president of the party and Grindeanu's candidacy for the position of president of the party
