Social Democratic Party (PSD) Interim Chairman Sorin Grindeanu on Thursday said that the Social Democrat MPs will ensure the quorum for the motion of no confidence to be debated on Monday, but they will not vote, and MPs from the other parties in the governing coalition will behave in the same manner.
Grindeanu was asked on Romania TV private broadcaster how PSD MPs would vote on the motion of no confidence, and whether they had received any instructions regarding this vote.
"Just like the PNL [National Liberal Party], UDMR [Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania], and USR [Save Romania Union] MPs - 'present, not voting'. The quorum will be ensured, but they will not vote," said Grindeanu.
He added that the decision he discussed together with the other party leaders in the coalition this week was precisely this: to ensure the quorum, but to leave the vote to the Opposition.
The motion of no confidence filed by Opposition MPs against the Government, titled "They've ruined the country and now force Romanians to pay the bill - out with the hypocritical Government", will be debated and voted on Monday in the plenary session of Parliament.
The Opposition initiated this move after the Government led by Ilie Bolojan assumed responsibility for the first package of fiscal measures aimed at reducing the budget deficit.
