Secretary of State with the Health Ministry Tiberius Bradatan on Wednesday told a debate that the medical system could have a digital information platform in place in two to three years, incorporating several databases.
"At the moment there is a desire at the level of the Ministry of Health, given that through the PNRR [National Recovery and Resilience Plan] component on the computerisation side we can receive funds, to develop the information system, to have a project on a national programme called SEGIS. It is a health information management service that will include a platform of very important data related both to the activity of hospitals and to the part of the activity in which the CNAS [National Health Insurance House] is involved, but more related to the costs that are made in health both related to personnel, namely health employment and the actual costs generated by this, as well as the part of hospital activity. Once we have this platform, all the data - huge amounts of data - will be able to be processed according to the current interest of those working in health. It will not be open access, but hierarchical according to the level at which the system is accessed," the Secretary of State told the conference on "Healthy life expectancy and productivity in the economy: the problem for Romania."
According to him, they are trying to integrate several health databases to get an overview. "The challenge for us is to have this database in the next two to three years," Bradatan said.
He stressed that specific legislation is needed to set up this database.
