HealthMin Pintea decides to conclude protocols with large burn centers of Europe

Healthcare Minister Sorina Pintea decided to conclude some protocols with large burn centers of Europe, in order to avoid in the future bureaucratic problems resulted from the patients' transfers abroad, the relevant Ministry informed.

"Following last week's problems which occurred with the transfer of the patient with severe burns to a private hospital in Belgium, Healthcare Minister Sorina Pintea decided to conclude some protocols with large burn centers of Europe, in order to avoid in the future the bureaucratic problems resulting from the transfer abroad of severe burned patients," a release of the Healthcare Ministry (MS) sent on Tuesday informs.

In this regard, the management of the Military Hospital of Belgium was contacted, with the first discussions to be carried out next week, that will lead to the signing of a protocol allowing the the transfer of patients with severe burns from Romania, under emergency regime, with subsequent bureaucratic problems to be sorted out subsequently.

According to the quoted source, the Healthcare Minister intends to conclude such agreements with many sanitary units of Europe, that have the capability to care and treat large burn victims.

The Healthcare Minister brings to mind that a European procedure is in place, which is to be enforced to all members states in case they are confronted with a lack of resources to treat large burn victims.

According to the Healthcare Ministry, Romania has the necessary funds to treat large burn patients abroad and all the payments to the foreign medical services providers are paid within the legal term.

The MS also says that Romania's sanitary system provides for the control of in-hospital infections, in accordance with the highest European standards in the area.

Sorina Pintea will meet this week with representatives of the Colectiv fire survivors group who sent an open letter, in view of talking about their proposal regarding the care and treatment capability of large burn victims.
