HealthMin Rafila: Testing must continue, assessment centres will stay open

COVID testing will continue, and assessment centres will remain operational, Health Minister Alexandru Rafila told a press conference on Tuesday.

Referring to the hospitals, Rafila said that they will operate in a "combined system" - they will treat patients infected with the novel coronavirus, but also patients with other pathologies - and as the number of patients decreases, so will the activity of those medical units be resumed the same as before.

Rafila also said on Tuesday that after lifting the restrictions imposed in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, people diagnosed should continue to self-isolate at home, out of "common sense," although they will no longer be controlled and fined by the authorities, Agerpres.ro informs.

The alert for the coronavirus pandemic will not be extended beyond March 8. Romania has been under a state of health alert for almost two years, from May 15, 2020 and until March 8, 2022.
