The former deputy general secretary of NATO, Mircea Geoana, wished success to Roxana Manzatu on Tuesday in her role as European commissioner from Romania, stating, however, that our country "deserved a portfolio with more significance".
"I welcome the news that a young woman like Roxana Minzatu will have the position of vice-president of the European Commission. She is a prepared lady, who deserved a better portfolio, but that's all the current leaders could get. And Mrs. Valean, in the last mandate, did a good job. But, I repeat, Romania deserves more, a portfolio with more significance", Geoana wrote on his Facebook account.
Candidate in the presidential elections this autumn, Mircea Geoana says that he will fight for the Romanian youth to be "massively" promoted on all lines.
"I also said at my NATO withdrawal ceremony that I dedicate the appreciation of the Alliance to the young men and women of Romania, who have a huge potential to succeed at home and anywhere in the world. (...) As president, I will fight for Romania to be respected and our young people to be massively promoted at NATO, the EU and in all international organizations where Romania's interests must be defended. I wish Roxana Minzatu success," Mircea Geoana wrote.
Roxana Minzatu, Romania's candidate for the European Commission, received the post of executive vice-president for People, competence and training, as announced in Brussels by the President of the European Executive, Ursula von der Leyen.
