Acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan warned on Wednesday that Romania's investment budget will shrink next year, mainly because NRRP funding is ending, a development he said could hit the construction sector.
Speaking on B1 TV, Bolojan noted that 2024 marked a record in public investment, approaching 8% of GDP, thanks to cohesion funds, NRRP money and programme closures. "From next year, available investment funds will fall. NRRP ends and we will no longer have those amounts, so a decline is inevitable," he said.
He added that the next government will struggle to keep public-sector salaries capped, arguing that adopting a new public-sector pay law is necessary. AGERPRES
