The PSD deputy from Hunedoara, Ilie Toma, made an appeal to his parliamentary colleagues on Tuesday for the rapid transposition of European legislation into Romanian legislation, regarding the adoption of the Single Window for Mineral Resources, so that mineral resources of strategic importance, such as copper, graphite, magnesium, can be exploited.
He recalled that there is a government ordinance in this regard, and this counter should have been established by March 1, 2025.
"A government ordinance is being drafted, which refers to the One-Stop Shop - that's what it's called - for the exploitation of mineral resources. We're talking about copper, graphite and magnesium, mineral resources declared of European strategic importance, by a European decision this year. This one-stop shop was already supposed to be done by March 1, 2025. I want to ask all of you who have connections with the Ministry of Economy, with the Mineral Resources Authority, to hurry this up, because the European legislation must be transposed as quickly as possible in Romania. There are three other states that have not adopted this legislation regarding the exploitation of copper. There is a lot of copper in Hunedoara. (...) The sooner the respective ordinance is adopted, the sooner the exploitation of these minerals can begin. It is also about magnesium, which is in Bihor County, also declared a resource of European strategic importance by European legislation, and graphite from Gorj. So, this legislation must be adopted as soon as possible, regarding the One-Stop Shop. I am sounding the alarm. (...) It is not for us, it is for the country," the deputy said in the meeting of the Administration Commission.
