InfoCons Consumer Protection and the National Directorate of Cyber Security (DNSC) have signed a strategic partnership to strengthen cooperation in the field of cybersecurity and to provide consumers with essential information on digital protection.
"The objectives of this partnership include protecting the rights and legitimate interests of consumers in the cyberspace, promoting the DNSC's unique emergency number - 1911 - in case of potential incidents, including within the InfoCons Application, as well as developing programmes and projects designed to increasing the level of user protection in the field of cybersecurity," reads an InfoCons press release issued on Thursday.
DNSC Director Dan Cimpean says that consumer education is an essential condition for building a safe, sustainable and responsible digital ecosystem. "This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to turning current challenges into real opportunities for progress for citizens."
In his turn, InfoCons Chairman Sorin Mierlea says that "more than ever, consumer protection no longer means only the protection of consumers of products and services."
"Taking into account the accelerated pace of technology, especially in the area of online services, Internet, mobile telephony, the minimum knowledge and education of consumers in the field of cybersecurity becomes a global, European, national, but especially individual priority," Mierlea is quoted as saying in the release.
The two partner entities say that the aim of their common approach is not only to correctly inform the general public, but also to increase the degree of digital resilience at individual and community level, thus reducing exposure to threats and strengthening protection against fraud and cyber-attacks.
