The police recorded 343 reports of possible contraventions or crimes related to the electoral process during Sunday's parliamentary elections.
"Out of the total of 343 possible incidents reported, 175 have been confirmed, 26 are being verified, and 142 were not confirmed," Interior Ministry (MAI) Spokesperson Monica Dajbog said on Monday.
Ten reports were outside the jurisdiction of MAI structures, with five being forwarded to the Central Electoral Bureau for resolution and another five to County Electoral Bureaus.
"The most incidents were reported in the counties of Botosani - 20, Dambovita and Dolj with 17 each, as well as Buzau, Olt, and Prahova, each with 16," Dajbog added.
Fines totaling approximately 157,000 lei were imposed, with 52 penalties issued and 78 warnings given. Additionally, investigations are underway concerning 86 possible crimes.
According to the source, in terms of MAI duties, the parliamentary elections were conducted under normal conditions of legality and public safety, with no incidents affecting the voting process.
All missions carried out by the Interior Ministry structures were monitored and coordinated by the National Integrated Coordination Centre, which maintained permanent contact with the operational centres activated in each county and in the capital.
"I remind you that for the election day, the Interior Ministry mobilised approximately 45,500 police officers, gendarmes, firefighters, border police, and employees from other structures to maintain public order, ensure the protection of the over 18,960 polling stations, and investigate reports of electoral incidents," Dajbog concluded.
