President Klaus Iohannis said he told U.S. President Donald Trump in a telephone conversation last Saturday that our country is counting on the U.S. and NATO for the security of the Alliance's eastern flank.
"We have obviously discussed the economic impact, the relaxation measures they are considering, we are also considering and we have also discussed about the security of NATO's eastern flank, the eastern flank we are part of. I told President Trump very bluntly that we are counting on the United States of America and NATO to ensure our security on the eastern flank," Iohannis said Tuesday in a press conference at the Cotroceni Palace.
At the same time, he brought to mind having talked to President Trump about the health crisis, as well as about any help the United States might provide.
"We discussed the issue of protective materials, the issue of fans and President Trump immediately asked if we needed ventilators. I said yes, we need ventilators and he said he would analyze, and send ventilators to Romania as soon as possible," Klaus Iohannis said.
