PSD Senator Robert Cazanciuc, former Minister of Justice, says it is regrettable that Justice is still a stake in political confrontations, and some people in power let loose the dogs for fear of losing control of the system''.

His reaction comes in the context of the scandal regarding the suspicion of plagiarism in the doctoral thesis of the Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu.

''I do not tolerate and do not encourage deception, of any kind, including intellectual. At the same time, I do not encourage and do not tolerate the obscure and subversive forms and methods used in the (hybrid) political war, especially when the stake is Justice, which should remain independent of the political factor. And vice versa. It is regrettable that, especially after the lifting of the CVM, Justice is still a stake in political confrontations, and some in power are letting the dogs loose for fear of losing control of the system. I thought we had escaped the old 'Securitate' methods of intimidation, of psycho-emotional torture methods'', Cazanciuc wrote on Facebook.

He draws attention to the fact that the moment of ''the public denigration of the Minister of Justice was chosen precisely during an important period for the judicial system''. ''The worst thing is, not when he was nominated for office'', added the PSD senator.

''It took more than a year to find something wrong with him. I expect the competent bodies in verification, analysis and control procedures to investigate in detail, correctly and objectively the violation of the legal framework in matters of intellectual property. Thus, according to the current regulatory framework, the originality of a doctoral thesis is verified, including with the help of software, by the Ethics Commission of the university where it was defended or, if applicable, by the National Commission for the Attestation of University Titles, Diplomas and Certificates. Until then, until a final decision, the presumption of innocence must function, and the judicial system must do its job, and legal procedures must follow their legal and democratic course,'' Robert Cazanciuc said.

A PressOne analysis by Emilia Sercan, published on Monday, claims that "more than half of the Law PhD thesis of Justice Minister Radu Marinescu, is plagiarized."
