An Italian citizen living in Arad is being investigated by the police over the transfer of foreign students from Arad to medical universities in Italy using false documents, with six searches being carried out in this case.
The Arad County Police Inspectorate (IPJ) on Tuesday informs, through a press release, that searches had taken place in a file in the field of higher education. Police officers from the Economic Crime Investigation Service, under the coordination of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Arad Court, raided six addresses in the municipality of Arad.
"The activities were carried out in locations in the municipality of Arad, with the aim of building evidence in a criminal case in which investigations are being carried out in terms of committing the crimes of fraud, forgery in official documents and use of forgery. The investigations revealed that an Italian citizen, residing in Arad, had facilitated several transfers of foreign students from a university in Arad to other universities in Italy, based on false documents. Through the same method, namely through false documents, obtaining a specialist medical degree was facilitated, without completing the residency period," the press release states.
Following the searches, goods and documents were seized, as well as a 9-millimetre pistol, illegally owned.
The investigations are continuing, and more people are to be questioned.
