Romanian tennis player Jaqueline Cristian, seeded 7th, qualified on Thursday for the quarterfinals of the WTA 250 tournament in Palermo (Italy), worth a total prize money of 232,244 euros, after defeating Italian Lucia Bronzetti 6-3, 6-2
Cristian (26, WTA's 66th) won after one hour and 48 minutes against the 2022 finalist (defeated by Irina Begu in the last act).
Jaqueline Cristian, who is now 4-0 in head-to-head matches with Bronzetti (25, WTA's 70th), has secured a 5,750 euro check and 54 WTA points.
n the quarterfinals, Jaqueline Cristian will face Chinese Qinwen Zheng (21, WTA's 7th), the main favorite.
The Romanian has won both of her direct matches so far, 6-3, 6-2 in Rome (ITF) in the first round in May 2019 and 6-1, 6-4 in Palermo in the round of 16 in 2021.
Irina Begu will play in the quarterfinals against American Ann Li (24, WTA's 127th), who defeated her 7-5, 7-5 in 2021 in Tenerife in the quarterfinals.
