26-year-old Cristian (WTA's 66th) secured EUR 3,512 in prize money and 30 WTA points, and is next to play one of the hosts' favorites, Italian Lucia Bronzetti, who in her turn powered past France's Elsa Jacquemot 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.
Also on Tuesday, 5th-seeded Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus beat Italian Martina Trevisan 6-7 (5/7), 6-4, 6-2, and is next to face Romanian Irina Begu
