The meeting reflects the strategic partnership between Romania and the United States of America and reconfirms the common commitment to defending the rule of law and democratic values, according to MJ.
MJ says in a press statement that it permanently monitors the observance of fundamental rights and freedoms, promoting institutional and interprofessional dialogue and cooperation.
At the same time, as part of the Romanian Government agenda in the field of justice, MJ shows that it plays "an active role" in improving the legislative framework to secure ensure "efficient, accessible, impartial and independent" justice.
Marinescu is quoted as saying that the modernisation of the infrastructure of the judiciary and the efficiency of the activity of the courts in order to increase the quality of the act of justice, are firm priorities moving forward.
"As far as the fight against crime is concerned, together with the other relevant judiciary and fiscal authorities, the Ministry of Justice pursues both the identification of the best legislative solutions to accelerate the recovery of proceeds of crime and the implementation of increased measures related to the protection of victims."
