Justice minister, representatives of Paris Court of Appeal leadership discuss judicial cooperation progress

Justice Minister Radu Marinescu met on Wednesday with representatives of the leadership of the Paris Court of Appeal and of the leadership of the Prosecutor's Office attached to this French judicial body to discuss the progress made so far in the field of judicial cooperation and analyze concrete directions for strengthening bilateral cooperation, the Justice Ministry said in a release.

The talks tackled topics of joint interest regarding respect for the rule of law, guaranteeing the independence of the judiciary, speeding up the digital transformation process, direct and efficient communication between jurisdictions, experience exchanges between magistrates, professional ethics, relations with the attorney professionals, as well as the harmonization of best cooperation practices at European level.

The sides also looked at the opportunity to set up thematic working groups, and, in this regard, Radu Marinescu invited French magistrates to organize bilateral meetings with their Romanian counterparts in order to consolidate efficient and sustainable professional cooperation.
