An exhibition of Kangra miniature paintings will open on June 6 at the 'Dimitrie Gusti' National Village Museum in Bucharest, with the opening event organized in cooperation with the Embassy of India and the KAPS Promotional Society.

Kangra is a famous style of Indian miniature painting which emerged in the 18th century in the Kangra Valley of India's northernmost state Himachal Pradesh.

''Known for their delicate brushwork, lush natural landscapes and romantic themes, these paintings are a hallmark of the Pahari school of art. Influenced by the Bhakti spiritual and devotional movement, Kangra art often depicts scenes from Hindu epics such as the Ramayana and the Mahabharata and, in particular, the love stories of the Hindu divine couple Radha and Krishna, rendered with grace and emotion,'' a release informs.

The paintings will be on display from June 6 to June 15 between 10:00 and 18:00, in the Glass Hall of the Village Musum's administrative building.
