The President of Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR), Kelemen Hunor, states that after the adoption of the budget for 2025, the Government will have to reduce bureaucracy, with procedures for each ministry, and abolish regional agencies, giving as an example those of the tax authority ANAF.

"It is a very important expectation to reduce the bureaucracy (...). We have to abolish all regional agencies, there is no need for these agencies. This means that we will be able to save a lot of money from the state budget (...) So these agencies are placed at regional level and in fact they say that they coordinate the county departments. (...) I think that this must be the first move and it is absolutely necessary to take this step. Plus, we must clean up a bunch of parafiscal taxes, because public services must be in line with the taxes paid", Kelemen Hunor said on Friday, in Targu Mures, at the end of the meeting of the Council of Union Representatives (CRU).

The president of UDMR emphasized that, from a budgetary point of view, the year 2025 will be a difficult one, but he believes that taxes and charges should not be increased, but their collection should increase.

"Taxes and charges should not be increased. It is absolutely useless and counterproductive. If you increase taxes and taxes it means that you produce inflation and reduce consumption. It means that you will only apparently have more money in the budget. Collection must be the first concern and we still have a lot to recoup, especially in the VAT area. On Monday we will probably have a clearer picture from the Ministry of Finance, because we are planning to discuss this on Monday. PSD and PNL know exactly what situation we are in (...) We must clearly tell the citizens what stage we are in and what is expected of us. We are not allowed to lie about the difficulties in the budget", Kelemen argued.

The UDMR leader believes that investment programs are needed to improve the quality of life, a special program for communes and small towns, "because the gaps there are very visible", long-term programs to support young families and programs to support SMEs.
