King Ferdinand & Queen Marie waxwork figures on display in Alba Iulia to mark their Coronation anniversary

Two wax figures representing King Ferdinand and Queen Marie, from the collection of the Karolyi Castle in Carei, Satu Mare County, were brought to Alba Iulia for two weeks in honor of the 103rd anniversary of the coronation of the royal couple as sovereigns of the Greater Romania.

"King Ferdinand and Queen Marie have returned to Alba Iulia after 103 years, and are waiting for you in an unconventional, but life-size display. It's the perfect moment for a selfie with and for history! Starting today, at the Alba Iulia National Center for Tourism Information and Promotion, you can admire, take pictures and have your picture taken with King Ferdinand I and Queen Marie, loaned from the unique collection of wax figures of the Karolyi Castle in Carei," representatives of the Alba Iulia Center announced on Wednesday.

Also as part of the events marking the 103rd anniversary of the event of October 15, 1922, the Diet Hall of the Princely Palace is hosting on Wednesday evening an extraordinary violin concert, "Concertmaster" with Liviu Prunaru.

The October 15, 1922 coronation of King Ferdinand and Queen Marie in Alba Iulia symbolically cemented the union of Transylvania with Romania, and was attended by tens of thousands of people, including representatives of the diplomatic corps, special envoys from several countries and foreign journalists.
