The 17th edition of the KINOdiseea International Film Festival for Young Audiences, an event dedicated to children and teenagers, kicks off on Friday in Bucharest.

According to a press release from the organisers, over the course of ten days, from 17 to 26 October, audiences are invited to enjoy moving films, inspiring stories and creative activities in a programme designed for the whole family.

Festival events will be hosted at Peasant Museum Cinema, Sala Gloria, the Armenian Cultural Centre and the Playouth Ludotheque.

On the festival's opening day, screenings include Heidi - The Mission to Save the Lynx, directed by Toby Schwarz and Aizea Roca Berridi, at Peasant Museum Cinema from 10:00 a.m., and The Badgers: The Brave Scouts, directed by Paul Magnus Lundo, from 6:30 p.m. at the same venue.

Admission is free to all screenings and festival activities. Seat reservations are required for Peasant Museum Cinema and Sala Gloria via eventbook.ro/festival/kinodiseea, while entry to the Armenian Cultural Centre does not require booking.

Five international productions will compete in the KINOdiseea 2025 competition, bringing to the screen moving stories about courage and friendship: Hola Frida (dir. This year's jury includes actresses Ada Condeescu, Adela Popescu and Laura Cosoi.

In addition to the competition screenings, the festival will offer a wide range of educational and creative activities: conferences for parents on digital and developmental topics, Armenian reading and creative writing workshops led by Ligia Kesisian and Iulian Tanase, stop-motion animation sessions with Lulu Trasnea, and special acting workshops run by jury members Ada Condeescu, Laura Cosoi and Adela Popescu. Participants can also enjoy magic shows with Teo Magic Show and fun chemistry workshops by CONI - Vulcan Party and Slime Party, blending play with creative discovery.
