Labour Minister, Kazakh ambassador discuss the mutual recognition of contributions to pensions

The Minister of Labour and Social Solidarity, Simona Bucura Oprescu, on Tuesday discussed with the ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Romania about the steps that must be taken so that the pension contributions of the citizens of both countries are recognized and calculated after the withdrawal from activity.

"During the meeting, the steps that both Romania and Kazakhstan must take so that the pension contributions of the citizens of both countries are recognized and calculated after the retirement of Kazakh citizens working in Romania, but also of the Romanians who carry out their activity in the Republic of Kazakhstan. In this respect, the Romanian and Kazakh sides have agreed to conclude a memorandum on pensions and social securities," reads a press release of the MMSS.

According to the same source, in the margins of the bilateral discussions, the ambassador appreciated the extremely close cooperation of the Romanian side to protect the rights of employees and safety at work and assured that the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan wants to remain a solid partner in ensuring energy security in the region.

For his part, the Minister of Labour and Social Solidarity appreciated the fact that the Republic of Kazakhstan has important investments in Romania being also an important contributor to the budget and especially to the public pension system. Moreover, the Romanian Minister appreciated that the Republic of Kazakhstan is one of Romania's most important partners in Central Asia, the press release states.
