Land Forces Day marked by military ceremonies across Romania

The National Defense Ministry announced a string of military ceremonies organized at heroes' memorials, sports and military-applicative competitions, as well as military band concerts taking place on April 23, on Land Forces Day.

Land Forces Day is celebrated every year on April 23 - the Feast of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victory-bearer, who is the spiritual patron and protector of the troops of these forces, shows a National Defense Ministry release.

On this occasion, the Land Forces General Staff, the major units and the subordinate units are organizing together with the local public authorities military ceremonies at the monuments dedicated to heroes, sports and applied-military competitions, cultural-educational activities and military music concerts.

A military and religious wreath and garland laying ceremony will be held in Bucharest's Carol I Park at noon at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier memorial.

Also in Carol Park, an exhibition of weapons, military hardware and technology will be organized between 11:00 and 15:00, complete with stands presenting the educational offer and promoting the military career, as well as fanfare concerts.

On April 27 - 28, the Carol I Park will be the venue for a display of weapons, military equipment and technology, educational offer and military career presentations, a history-themed exhibition, a zip-line installation, performances by the artistic ensembles of the military clubs subordinated to the Land Forces General Staff and by the Brothers and Sisters Band, brass band concerts and demonstration exercises.

A similar event will be organized at Bucharest's Mall AFI Cotroceni, along with fencing shows, brass band concerts and a performance by the students of the Stefan cel Mare National Military College in Campulung Moldovenesc.

A torchlight procession will take place on Sunday evening between 19:00 - 20:00 along the route Carol I Park - Palace of Parliament - National Defense Ministry - Panduri Street - Cotroceni Palace - Gen. Paul Teodorescu Boulevard - Drumul Taberei quarter (headquarters of the Land Forces General Staff). AGERPRES
