The production "Liberty", directed by Tudor Giurgiu, will be screened on Wednesday in Tel Aviv, at the opening of the Romanian Film Festival in Israel, informs ICR Tel Aviv.

The new edition of the festival will take place at cinemas in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, Holon, Herzliya, Rosh Pinna, Sderot and Ofakim, curated by Iris Lackner.

After the screening of the film "Liberty", Tudor Giurgiu will have a dialogue with the audience.

The action in "Liberty" takes place in Sibiu, in 1989. In the chaos generated by the crowd's protests against the authorities, a militia unit becomes the target of a violent assault that degenerates into a bloody confrontation between soldiers, militiamen, securitate staff and civilians. Trying to escape the siege, militia captain Viorel is captured by the Army and accused of being a terrorist.

Among the films that will be shown at the Romanian Film Festival in Israel are "Capra cu trei iezi", by Victor Canache, "Opportunity Spies", by Oana Giurgiu, "Working People", by Paul Negoescu.

They are joined by "Scara", directed by Vlad Paunescu, "Neidentificat", by Bogdan George Apetri, "Balaur", by Octav Chelaru, "Carbon", by Ion Bors and "Baietii buni ajung în rai", by Radu Potcoava .
