Ligia Deca appointed Secretary General of Romania’s National Commission for UNESCO

Ligia Deca was appointed secretary general of the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO, according to a decision of Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu published in the Official Gazette.

Her appointment comes after Madlen Serban was released, upon request, from this capacity.

On June 29, 2015, Ligia Deca was appointed State Counselor within the Presidential Administration, and on December 23, 2019, she became Presidential Counselor on education and research issues.

On October 3, 2022, Deca took over the position of Minister of Education.

She is currently vice-rector at the National School of Political and Administrative Studies. AGERPRES
