Literature, film, photography, visual arts in programme of Romanian Culture Festival in Krakow, June 12-15

The 15th edition of the Romanian Culture Festival in Krakow, taking place June 12 to15, will feature a multidisciplinary programme combining literature, film, photography, visual arts and cultural tourism.

According to an ICR Warsaw press release sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday, the festival will kick off on June 12 with a debate on the occasion of the launch of the Polish translation of the Complete Works of Max Blecher (translated by Joanna Kornaœ-Warwas, PIW Publishing House), organized by the International Center for Culture.

The discussion will be followed by the screening of the movie "Scarred Hearts", directed by Radu Jude, inspired by the Romanian author's work.

The programme will continue on Friday, with the event The Danube Delta - Europe's Amazon, a meeting with photographer Florin Andreescu, followed by the screening of the film 'The Wild Danube', directed by Charlie Ottley, in the multimedia space Arteteka.

The event will take place in the context of the new traveling exhibition prepared by ICR Warsaw and dedicated to Romania's natural heritage - The Danube Delta - Europe's Amazon, with photographs signed by Florin Andreescu, author of numerous albums dedicated to Romania, as well as of several award-winning documentaries on travel, history and anthropology.

The New Romanian Film Caravan will be opened on the evening of June 13, at the Pod Baranami Art Cinema, with the film "Morometii 3", in the company of a special guest - actor Alex Calin, the interpreter of the character Niculae in the film, and film critic Milosz Stelmach, who will talk about the films selected in the Caravan 2025 and will talk with Alex Calin in a Q&A session after the screening.

The evenings of the last two days of the festival will also be dedicated to cinema, with Kino Pod Baranami hosting the screenings of the short film group composed of "Happy", directed by Mara Cohn, "Networking", directed by Marian Farcut, "Missed Calls", directed by Andreea Pais, "Mamaie Brandusa", directed by Ada Dumitru, "WTF Luci", directed by Paul Radu, then "The New Year that Never Came", directed by Bogdan Muresanu, "Nasty", directed by Tudor Giurgiu, Cristian Pascariu, Tudor D. Popescu and "Jaful Anului"/The Robbery of the Century, directed by Teodora Ana Mihai.

All films will be screened in their original version with Polish subtitles.

After the festival, the open-air photo exhibition The Danube Delta - Europe's Amazon will remain open to the public in the outdoor area of the Krakow Municipal Library until August 10.
