The Social Democrat Party (PSD) deputy Liviu Dragnea was elected Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies in plenary session, on Wednesday. According to the results of the vote count, 317 deputies were present at the session, the overall number of votes cast was 317, no vote was annulled.
Out of the 317 votes validly cast, 216 voted "in favour" and 101 "against". The vote was by secret ballot. The president of the Chamber of Deputies is elected by a majority of the deputies present, according to the Regulation. Liviu Dragnea was the only candidate for this position and was proposed by PSD.
