National Liberal Party (PNL) candidate Ciprian Ciucu leads among Bucharest voters who are certain to vote on 7 December, while Social Democratic Party's (PSD) Daniel Baluta is ahead in the voting intention among all those who expressed a preference, according to an INSCOP poll conducted between 17 and 19 November.
The sociological study measures voting intention among mobilised voters, namely those who say they will certainly vote (62.9 percent of the total sample).
Among those certain to vote in the Bucharest mayoral election, 27.1 percent would choose Ciprian Ciucu (PNL), 24 percent Daniel Baluta (PSD), 21.3 percent Anca Alexandrescu (independent, endorsed by the Alliance for Romanians' Union - AUR and the Christian Democratic National Peasant Party - PNTCD) and 12.1 percent Catalin Drula (the Save Romania Union - USR).
The next positions would be held by Ana Ciceala (the Health, Education, Nature, Sustainability Party - SENS) with 7.6 percent, Alexandru Zidaru Makaveli (independent) with 2.1 percent, Eugen Teodorovici (independent) with 2 percent and Vlad Gheorghe (DREPT Party) with 1.1 percent.
Among Bucharest voters certain they will vote, 1.1 percent would opt for Dan Cristian Popescu (independent), 1 percent for Gigi Netoiu (independent), 0.4 percent for Dan Trifu (independent), 0 percent for George Burcea ( the the Young People's Party - POT) and 0.1 percent indicate another candidate.
The poll also shows the ranking in terms of the voting intentions among potential voters, namely those who expressed a voting preference (83.6 percent of the total sample).
Thus, 26.6 percent of those who express a voting preference in the Bucharest City Hall election would vote for Daniel Baluta (PSD), 24.2 percent for Ciprian Ciucu (PNL) and 19.1 percent for Anca Alexandrescu (independent, endorsed by AUR and PNTCD). A share of 11.6 percent of Bucharest residents would choose Catalin Drula (USR) as General Mayor, 6.5 percent prefer Ana Ciceala (SENS), 3.5 percent Alexandru Zidaru Makaveli (independent) and 3.5 percent Eugen Teodorovici (independent).
At the same time, 1.7 percent would vote for Vlad Gheorghe (DREPT Party), 1.7 percent for Dan Cristian Popescu (independent), 0.9 percent for Gigi Netoiu (independent), 0.3 percent for Dan Trifu (independent), 0.2 percent for George Burcea (POT) and 0.2 percent indicate another candidate.
Regarding the estimated turnout in the elections for the Bucharest City Hall, 72 percent of respondents said they will certainly vote, while 9.4 percent said they definitely will not.
The Informat.ro - INSCOP Research Barometer is a monthly opinion poll carried out by INSCOP Research at the request of the news platform Informat.ro in partnership with the Strategic Thinking Group think tank.
The data were collected using the CATI method (telephone interviews), with a simple, stratified sample of 1,107 people, representative by key socio-demographic categories (sex, age, occupation) for the non-institutionalised population of Bucharest aged 18 and over. The maximum admitted margin of error is ą 2.95 percent, at a confidence level of 95 percent.
