All the persons hospitalised following the fire that broke out in Bergkamen (Germany) have been released from hospital, the German employer of those who lived in the building confirmed to the Romanian consulate office that he provided accommodation in another location to all the people affected, a release of the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) sent to AGERPRES on Friday informs.
"According to the latest data provided to Romania's Consulate General in Bonn by local authorities, 45 people were living in the building that burned, out of whom 33 were registered as Romanian citizens, some of the persons residing there held double citizenship, including Romanian citizenship. According to the data gathered by representatives of the consular office, all the people hospitalised, as a result of the fire, have been discharged from hospital. Following the demarches of the consular office, the German employer of the people affected by the fire, confirmed he provided accommodation for them in another location," the quoted source mentions.
Over 30 persons were rushed to hospital on Friday, following a fire that broke out in a building in Bergkamen, Germany, which was also inhabited by Romanian citizens. 33 of the persons that were affected by the fire have been hospitalised, as a result of smoke intoxication, 7 of them with a serious health status, but their lives are not at risk," according to the MAE.
The Ministry for Romanians Abroad (MRP) urgently contacted the permanent mission of Romania in Berlin and the Consulate General in Bonn for information regarding the fire in Bergkamen (Germany) and set up an inter-ministerial crisis cell, whose goal is to provide immediate assistance to the Romanians involved in the case.
President Klaus Iohannis strongly condemned the incident that occurred in Bergkamen.
