Romania is a reliable and active ally in defending NATO's eastern flank and maintains its commitment to multidimensional and sustainable support to Ukraine, in close coordination with NATO and the European Union, Romania's Defence Ministry (MApN) said on Thursday.
MApN added that "Romania's military air infrastructure represents a strong point on the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance for deterrence and defence.', agerpres reports.
It said that the Romanian Air Force has F-16 Fighting Falcon combat aircraft, and recently at the Mihail Kogalniceanu Military Base took place the certification of a detachment of the German Air Force, which performs Enhanced Air Policing missions, in cooperation with the Romanian military, for the defence of NATO airspace.
"Romania is aware of and will be part of all the decisions of the allies regarding security guarantees. The evaluations that are made at this moment will be formalised by decisions that will comply with international treaties and laws in force."
MApN also said that "Romania reaffirms its firm commitment to national and collective security, acting responsibly and in full accordance with its obligations inside NATO and the European Union."
