Almost 200 kilometers of county roads have been completely rehabilitated and modernized, and another 100 kilometers of roads will undergo repairs, the president of the Maramures County Council (CJ), Gabriel Zetea, informed on Tuesday.

"In the past term (2016-2020) we rehabilitated over 200 kilometers of county road, the largest road investment in recent decades in Maramure?. Since December 2024, we have started implementing the 'Mara Nord' project, one of the largest European projects for road infrastructure in the county (...) For me and my team, road infrastructure remains priority zero: better roads mean a stronger economy, growing tourism and safety for every family in the county," Gabriel Zetea said in a post on his Facebook page.

The President of the County Council announced that other sections of county roads exceeding 100 km are ready to undergo complete modernization.

"Implementation period: December 2024 - December 2029. Total value: over 616 million lei. Financing: through the North-West Regional Program 2021-2027, carried out by the North-West ADR, with support from the European Regional Development Fund. Through this project we are modernizing: 110 km of county roads to European standards, 41 new alveoli for public transport and 12 alternative fuel filling stations, an important step towards green mobility. 'Mara Nord' means safety, comfort and a better connection with the TEN-T network, i.e. faster and safer roads between Maramure?, Salaj and Bistri?a-Nasaud, but also with Europe," Gabriel Zetea also said.

The head of the CJ also pointed out that during this mandate, the modernization of road infrastructure is a priority.
