MEP Iuliu Winkler (Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania, UDMR, EPP) said on Sunday in Hunedoara that he voted for more European funds, less bureaucracy and for the European Union institutions to "work for the people and not in the service of ideologies", but also to obtain a regulation on the rights of "autochthonous minorities" in the European community.

"I voted with a lot of confidence and hope for more EU funds and less bureaucracy. For a change in the European Union, especially in the European Commission - where we want the European Union institutions to work for the people and not in the service of ideologies. I voted for a regulation on the rights of autochthonous minorities in the European Union in the near future," said Winkler.

The MEP urged voters to exercise their right to vote.

"I voted with hope and I urge all those who have to vote today, all voters in Romania, to go and exercise their right to vote because if they decide not to vote, then they will let others decide on their behalf," concluded Iuliu Winkler.
