MEP Dan Nica on Monday announced the release of a major green energy investment in Romania in Galati County, a wind farm at Scanteiesti, which will have an installed capacity of 96 MW and will produce over 300 GWh of electricity annually.
Nica, a coordinator of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy of the European Parliament, underlined the strategic importance of the project for the region.
"The project will produce approximately 309 GWh of electricity annually, enough to cover the consumption of tens of thousands of households and to significantly reduce CO2 emissions. The new facilities will strengthen our county's position on Romania's energy map and will contribute to the transition to a clean, sustainable and competitive energy system. I strongly support investment in clean energy, which bring not only benefits to the environment, but also economic development, jobs and new opportunities for local communities. Galati can and must be an important pole of clean energy in Romania," said Nica.
According to the MEP, the investment is an important step in strengthening Galati County's position in the field of renewable energy and will significantly contribute to Romania's energy transition objectives
