European Commission (EC) President Jean-Claude Juncker "is making games eying the next European elections," says ALDE MEP Renate Weber in a Wednesday's post on Facebook, in reference to last week's statement in which the head of the Community Executive expressed his reservations about Romania's ability to preside over EU countries.
Reminding also the message of the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, who expressed his confidence in Romania, Renate Weber wonders: "In which of the two should we have more confidence about their sincere thoughts towards Romania?"
In this context, she also recalls the message sent by the Swedish Permanent Representative to the European Union, Lars Danielsson, who suggested that Romania should not be criticized before exercising its mandate, commenting that, "not asked by anybody, the Swedish ambassador felt the need to react to an unfair statement by Juncker."
"It is clear to everyone that the President of the EC is making games eying the next European elections. For me it is clear that Donald Tusk is the one I can trust. It is not the first time that he has the courage to express right positions, even if he bothers those who think only from the point of view of personal or party interest," concludes the ALDE MEP.
