A metal bridge brought from Poland will temporarily replace the collapsed bridge that crossed the Sasar River on DN1C - the ring road of Baia Mare, the president of the Maramures County Council (CJ), Gabriel Zetea, informed on Tuesday.
"A temporary bridge will be brought from Poland as soon as possible, which will temporarily ensure road traffic. In parallel, land preparation works have already begun, so that the structure can be installed immediately upon its arrival. At the same time, discussions were held with the mayor of Recea commune, who will pave a communal road connecting the locality to the Baia Mare Ring Road, thus contributing to traffic decongestion. In this regard, the County Council will support the works, within an institutional partnership," Gabriel Zetea specified.
The investment in the temporary bridge and the one that will replace the collapsed one will be carried out by CNAIR.
"The complete rehabilitation of the affected bridge on DN1C is a priority, and the current measures are intended to limit the negative impact on traffic and on citizens in Baia Mare and neighboring localities. We thank CNAIR, the Cluj Regional Directorate of Roads and Bridges and the local authorities for their collaboration. The Maramures County Council remains actively involved in identifying and implementing rapid and efficient solutions for the residents of our county," Gabriel Zetea added.
Road traffic in and out of Baia Mare, entering from the west, is frequently congested due to the bridge works. Most freight carriers are forced to enter the city to reach the large chain stores located on the outskirts of the city or to the production bases of some companies.
The collapsed bridge, built in the early 1970s, was used mainly by freight carriers, but also by traffic participants using the ring road of Baia Mare.
