Mihaela Cambei wins three gold medals at European Under-23 Weightlifting Championships

Olympic silver medallist Mihaela Valentina Cambei won three gold medals in the 53 kg category on Tuesday, the opening day of the European Under-23 Weightlifting Championships in Durres, Albania.

Cambei, who took silver in the 49 kg category at the 2024 Olympic Games, triumphed in the snatch event with 95 kg, won the clean and jerk with 110 kg, and secured the overall gold with a total of 205 kg.

Romania also claimed three bronze medals on Tuesday at the European Junior Championships in Albania.

In the 60 kg category, Narcis Papolti won bronze in the snatch event with 119 kg and overall with 262 kg, while he placed fourth in the clean and jerk with 143 kg.

Alexia Diana Sipos also earned a bronze medal in the 53 kg category in the clean and jerk with 100 kg. In the snatch, Sipos finished fourth with 81 kg and was fourth overall with 181 kg.

In the 48 kg category, Ioana Madalina Miron finished fourth in the snatch event with 74 kg, fifth in the clean and jerk with 89 kg, and fifth overall with 163 kg.

Romania is participating with a team of 15 athletes, 11 juniors and 4 under-23 competitors, in the European Junior and Under-23 Championships in Durres (28 October - 5 November), according to the Romanian Weightlifting Federation.
