The first stage of the Quality & Safety pilot project intended for marking the Via Transilvanica on the route from Tara Dornelor, started in June this year by Tasuleasa Social and the Ecotourism Tara Dornelor Association (AETD), has been completed, the route milestones being already in place.

AETD announced on Tuesday that all 47 milestones in Tara Dornelor, with entrance from the Mestecanis gorge (milestone number 84) and exit to the Tataru area via Gradinita (milestone number 131), bear the logo of the ecotourism destination and an identification number, which helps the pilgrims on the Via Transilvanica to determine exactly where they are, at which milestone, which is an extra safety element on the route.

According to the same source, the action of sandblasting, marking and numbering of the milestones on Via Transilvanica, the segment in Tara Dornelor, took place between September 10 and 16 and was carried out by the technical teams of Tasuleasa Social and Salvamont Vatra Dornei.

Thus, Tasuleasa Social proposes, together with the people on the road, to extend the "quality & safety" along the entire Via Transilvanica route, of 1,400 kilometres.

"The role of this pilot project was to provide a new orientation compass on the route for hikers who walk or ride Via Transilvanica. And, in addition, the project is intended to pave the way for the ecotourism destination Tara Dornelor by taking on an active role in improving the visiting experience on this tourist route that made its way through the beautiful spruce forests and the local communities of the mountain area, with the specific traditions and customs, loved by the guests," says the same source, told Agerpres.

In the second phase of the collaboration, the partner organizations proposed to update the Hiking Guide on Via Transilvanica, where the routes belonging to the ecotourism destination Tara Dornelor will be mentioned.

At the same time, on the eco-destination website, https://taradornelor.ro/, a page dedicated to the Via Transilvanica route that crosses the area will be included, thus meeting those looking for detailed information about local experiences.

The first stage of the Quality & Safety pilot project was implemented by Tasuleasa Social and Salvamont Vatra Dornei with the support of the Tara Dornelor Ecotourism Association through the Tara Dornelor project, a thriving ecotourism destination, financed by the Romanian-American Foundation and the Polgar-Tars Alapitvany Partnership Foundation through the Green Entrepreneurship programme - Sustainable economic development through ecotourism.

On October 8 this year, in the Citadel Square in Alba Iulia, the official launch of the entire Via Transilvanica route, of approximately 1,400 kilometres, which crosses Romania from the North-East to the South-East, will take place.

At the event, Via Transilvanica Day The Grand Opening, the Tara Dornelor Ecotourism Association will represent the ecotourism destination with its own promotional stand provided by Tatuleasa Social, as organizer.

At the Fair for the people of the road, in the stand of the eco-destination Tara Dornelor, popular craftsmen and local producers will be present, who will share a small part of the local charm and flavor with the 10,000 expected participants.
