Events dedicated to Romania's National Day were held on Monday in several cities across the country.

Arges
Thousands of people attended the ceremonies organised in the pedestrian area of central Pitesti.

In addition to the military parade, which ended in Vasile Milea Square, those present viewed an exhibition of equipment belonging to structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which also organised intervention simulations. Mountain rescuers prepared an emergency intervention exercise.

In the evening, the municipality invites residents of Pitesti to celebrate Romania's National Day at the performances organised as part of the Christmas Fair in Town Hall Square. At 19:00, the Pitesti Philharmonic will hold a special concert featuring beloved Romanian melodies, followed at 20:30 by an extraordinary recital by Constantin and Cosmin Gagiu together with the Iancu Jianu Ensemble.

In Curtea de Arges, the events dedicated to the National Day took place at the Heroes' Cemetery, where a military and religious ceremony was held and wreaths were laid.

In Campulung, the celebrations began with a military and religious ceremony in Juramantului Square, including wreath-laying and a parade, followed by a show of patriotic songs in Town Hall Square. The events concluded with the distribution of 400 portions of beans with sausages.

Buzau
Romania's Army remains an institution in the service of the nation, a pillar of stability and safety, the commander of the Buzau Garrison, Major General Gabriel Constantin Turculet, said.

The Buzau Garrison organised a military and religious ceremony on Calea Eroilor in Buzau, followed by a parade featuring personnel from the National Defence, Public Order and National Security System.

"On Romania's National Day, I thank all the people of Buzau for being alongside and supporting the soldiers of the Buzau Garrison. I thank all military and civilian personnel, active, reserve and retired, within the 2nd Infantry Division 'Getica' for their professionalism, courage and determination in fulfilling their entrusted tasks. We reaffirm our commitment to Romania and assure you that the Romanian Army remains an institution serving the nation, a point of stability and a pillar of safety. Happy National Day, Romania! Happy National Day to all Romanians!," the garrison commander said.

For about 40 minutes, hundreds of residents watched the parade of troops from the 2nd Infantry Division "Getica" and other structures of the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including the 52nd Special Operations Battalion "Banesa - Otopeni", the Aurel Vlaicu Aviation Training Base at Boboc, and detachments of the Traian Vuia Military School of Air Force Warrant Officers and NCOs, which has adapted its technological programmes to include specialised training for the F-16 multirole aircraft and NATO requirements related to the Patriot air defence system. Local officials also attended the event.

"Many good things have been done. A few days ago, the A7 Motorway was inaugurated, linking Buzau with Moldova, Wallachia with Moldova. I recalled that in October 1881, 144 years ago, the first railway linking Wallachia to Moldavia, Buzau-Marasesti, was inaugurated. Things are happening, Romania is developing. There are still many people facing hardship, but Romania is on the right path; we are members of the two most powerful organisations in the world, the EU and NATO. There is freedom, peace and democracy, and we must preserve them. And each of us — especially the political class, but also every Romanian — must work harder and with more responsibility so that we have a better future for our country. Happy National Day, dear people of Buzau; Happy National Day, Romanians; Happy National Day, Romania," Buzau mayor Constantin Toma said.

Later, around 12:00, residents were invited to the courtyard of the I.C. Bratianu Museum Centre in Buzau, where the County Council organised an artistic programme and a festive meal offering more than 2,000 portions of beans.

Sibiu
Three cultural institutions under the authority of the Sibiu County Council - the ASTRA County Library, the Junii Sibiu Creation Centre and the State Philharmonic - prepared events dedicated to Romanian history, traditions and cultural values for the National Day.

The ASTRA County Library organised two activities for children and young people. The Children and Youth Department is hosting the workshop "Romanian Stories", aimed at ages 7-12, combining traditional tales with creative activities such as making tricolour flags. The second workshop, "Talking with History", is designed to familiarise younger generations with the significance of the National Day. Also on 1 December, the Museum of the Association will open the exhibition "Metropolitan Nicolae Balan. Documentary testimonies in the ASTRA Library collections". Visitors can also view a thematic exhibition on the Great Union at the Adult Reading Section.

The central event of the day is the extraordinary show "We Are Romanians!", beginning at 14:30 at the Transilvania Sports Hall. Performers include the Cindrelul-Junii Sibiului Folklore Ensemble, the Lautarii Orchestra from Chisinau, and renowned Romanian folk artists such as Nicolae Furdui Iancu, Laura Lavric, Niculina Stoican and Loredana. The show will be broadcast live by TVR and presented by Iuliana Tudor. Admission is free, with tickets available via Eventbook.ro from 28 November 2025.

The Sibiu State Philharmonic will perform a special concert at 19:00, conducted by guest maestro Cristian Mandeal. The programme, dedicated entirely to Romanian music, includes works by Adrian Pop, Paul Constantinescu and George Enescu. Pianist Horia Mihail will be the soloist.

Constanta
Constanta marks the National Day with a series of festive events throughout the day, attended by thousands of participants, ending with a torchlight march by naval servicemen at 17:00.

A military and religious ceremony, including wreath-laying, was held on Monday morning for one hour at the Victory Monument in the city centre. People then watched the traditional military parade, organised between 11:00 and 13:00 on Tomis Boulevard.

The public viewed the parade of the honour guard and the platoons formed by Romanian Naval Forces servicemen, representatives of defence, public order and national security institutions, as well as foreign soldiers stationed at the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base 57.

At 17:00, naval servicemen will begin the torchlight withdrawal on the route: Sports Hall - Tomis Boulevard - Traian Street - Archaeological Park - Victory Monument.

To ensure the smooth running of the events, road traffic in the area was temporarily closed. On Tomis Boulevard, between Mamaia and Ferdinand boulevards, traffic is restricted until 23:00, the stretch becoming pedestrian-only.

Cluj
Hundreds of people attended the events held in Avram Iancu Square in Cluj-Napoca to mark the National Day. Among those present were the Metropolitan of Cluj, Andrei Andreicut, Prefect Maria Forna, Cluj County Council President Alin Tise and Cluj-Napoca Deputy Mayor Dan Tarcea.

Prefect Maria Forna delivered the message of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, while County Council President Alin Tise spoke of meaning and hope.

"Today is not about numbers but about meaning. It is a gift that tells you: you are still here. You still have life to live, to create, to feel, to share. It is a chance to look ahead with hope and back with gratitude, understanding that each moment has not taken something from you, but added a new dimension. That is why the true celebration is not in the festivities but in the awareness that life has chosen you and continues to call you. And your response, each day, is how you continue writing the story of this calling in the hearts of those who love, appreciate and believe in you," Alin Tise said.

Events included the official ceremony with the presentation of honours and the salute to the battle flag, the singing of the National Anthem, and the parade of honour detachments from the 4th Infantry Division "Gemina" - the 317 ISR Regiment "Vladesa", the 50th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment "Andrei Muresianu", the 55th Communications and IT Battalion "Napoca", the Stefan Cicio-Pop Gendarmerie Mobile Group, the Avram Iancu Emergency Situations Inspectorate and Gherla Penitentiary.

There was also a display of intervention equipment belonging to the Ministry of Internal Affairs structures and the Cluj-Napoca Local Police, followed by a daytime fireworks and confetti show organised by the municipality. (reporter: Marius Septimiu Avram)

Mures
Romania's National Day is celebrated in Targu Mures with exhibitions of military equipment, parades and torchlight withdrawals, as well as a ceremony unique to the county: the awarding of the "Suseni Fibula", a replica of the famous archaeological find discovered in 1924 at the Suseni Brick Factory, a treasure unique worldwide.

From early morning, the city was enlivened by crowds eager to admire the exhibitions of military equipment organised by the Special Operations Forces and the Horea Emergency Situations Inspectorate, alongside the Police, Gendarmerie and SMURD, who impressed the public with demonstrations and sophisticated equipment.

The event included a military and religious ceremony with wreath-laying at the Monument of Latinity, and the solemn awarding of the "Suseni Fibula" to personalities who have significantly contributed to the development and identity of the Mures community.

At 18:30, a torchlight retreat will take place along the route: UM 01016 Barracks - Victor Babes Street - Cetatii Boulevard - Avram Iancu Street - Bernady Square - Rose Square - Victory Square, with all military structures in the city participating.

At 19:00, the units taking part in the torchlight retreat will arrive at the stage set up in central Targu Mures, where an artistic performance is scheduled.
