Romania has no better ambassadors than you, National Defence Minister Mihai Fifor on Wednesday told the servicemen in missions abroad, in a video-conference with the Romanian military on duty in the operation theatres and in Poland, a relevant ministry (MApN)'s release sent to AGERPRES reads.
Mihai Fifor alongside Chief of the General Staff, general Nicolae Ciuca, thanked the Romanian military for their exemplary behaviour in the international missions.
The commanders of the Romanian military structures in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo have emphasised the newest elements regarding the security situation's developments in their responsibility areas and the way the Romanian military accomplish their jobs, the release adds.
"You represent everything that the Romanian people has best and I bow to your sacrifice to spending these festive moments far from your families, in a hostile, dangerous environment," Mihai Fifor stresses.
"It is only for us, the military who know the feelings and emotions we sense around the winter holidays, when we are in missions, far from home, from family, from our dearest. It is the 16th Christmas ever since 2002 that the Romanian Army spends in the NATO operations and missions and it is not easy. Now, on Christmas Eve, I present you my best wishes, happy holidays, a New Year with joy and I wish you all to come back home, safe nad sound," Nicolae Ciuca says.
This end-year, as many as 1,000 Romanian military are on duty in the NATO, EU, UN and OSCE missions.
