The Ministry of Finance (MF) borrowed over RON 400 million from banks on Thursday through a discounted treasury certificate issuance with a one-year maturity and an average annual yield of 6.98%, according to data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

The nominal value of the issuance was RON 400 million, while banks subscribed RON 723.25 million.

In August 2025, the Ministry of Finance plans to borrow RON 5.8 billion from commercial banks, with an additional RON 810 million potentially raised through supplementary non-competitive bids related to bond auctions.

The total amount of RON 6.61 billion is 15 million higher than the RON 6.595 billion scheduled in July this year and will be used for refinancing and early repayment of public debt, as well as financing the state budget deficit.
