The Ministry of Labor argued, once again, at the meeting with all social partners, the need to increase the minimum salary, the Minister of Labor, Florin Manole said.

"The prime minister proposed that the decision be made at the beginning of next week. All parties presented their opinions and proposals. Obviously, the Ministry of Labor argued, once again, at the meeting with all social partners, for the need to increase the minimum salary, for easily understandable reasons, high inflation, the impact on purchasing power. (...) There were, obviously, also opinions in favor of maintaining the current level of the minimum salary economy-wide, these came from the employers' organizations. I believe that there is still room for negotiation", Florin Manole said on Wednesday, after the meeting of the National Tripartite Council held at the Victoria Palace.

He stressed that the budget would not be affected by an increase in the gross minimum salary, but will be "only a positive impact, in the sense of increasing budget collection", answering a question in this regard.

In the context, the minister was asked what the PSD would do if the prime minister decides to freeze the minimum salary at the current value.

"The PSD campaigned for the increase in the minimum salary, it will continue to do so until the last moment of the decision, and I would not want to anticipate, much less accept this word: to ignore. We are in a coalition, each party has a say, there is no party to be ignored or any party that has one hundred percent of the decision", Manole also said.
