More than 166,300 people cross Romania's borders on third Christmas Day

More than 166,300 people, Romanian and foreign citizens, and approximately 45,100 means of transport completed the paperwork for crossing the border, both incoming and outgoing, on Friday, on the third Christmas Day, the General Inspectorate of Border Police has informed.

According to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Saturday, 81,563 incoming people through the land border points, but also through the air and maritime ones (arrivals from non-Schengen states), carried out relevant paperwork. At the same time, 22,941 means of transport entered the country.

In the last 24 hours, in the areas of competence - the crossing points, but also the green border - the Border Police found 55 illegal deeds (17 crimes and 38 contraventions) through which the Romanian legislation was violated, Agerpres informs.

Fines in the amount of 20,960 RON were levied and goods worth approximately 214,800 RON were seized for confiscation.

In the last 24 hours, 16 foreign citizens who did not meet the conditions provided for by law were not allowed to enter the country, and eight Romanian citizens were banned from leaving Romania for various legal reasons.
