Wholesale and retail trade, maintenance, and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, in gross series, recorded a turnover increase of 2.7%, and 2.4% as adjusted series, in the first 11 months of 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year, according to data the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Thursday.
According to the source, in the period from January 1 to November 30, 2024, as a gross series, turnover increases were recorded in: trade with motorcycles, parts, and related accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+19.9%), trade with vehicle parts and accessories (+7.7%), and trade with motor vehicles (+3.2%), said Agerpres.
On the other hand, activities related to the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles slid 14.3% year-on-year.
Compared to the reference period, businesses in the trade of motor vehicles increased 2.4%, in adjusted series based on working days and seasonality.
The official statistics also show that, in November 2024 compared to the same month in 2023, the turnover volume in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance, and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, in gross series, registered an increase of 5.4%, due to results from: trade with motorcycles, parts, and related accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+30.2%), trade with vehicle parts and accessories (+7.1%), and trade with motor vehicles (+6.7%). On the contrary, activities related to the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles decreased 8.8%.
As an adjusted series, the turnover in the same area of activity advanced 5%.
INS data also highlights that, from month to month (November vs. October 2024), businesses in the trade of motor vehicles dropped 3.3%, following the decline in activities in trade with motor vehicles (-5.7%) and maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (-1.4%).
On the opposite side, increases were recorded in the trade of motorcycles, parts, and related accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+21.9%) and trade with vehicle parts and accessories (+0.4%).
Also, the total turnover volume in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance, and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, as an adjusted series, decreased 0.6% in November compared to October.
