"I am glad to see there is so much interest in Romania in creating a sustainable transport infrastructure through implementing intelligent technologies, which will help increase the citizens' quality of life across the country. We must admit that Romania is currently facing a development gap in this chapter compared with other European states, and the steps we are taking in recovering this gap are still small. So it's time to leave behind now the current phase of analysis and evaluation and start a new one, of action and implementation. And first of all we need a change of paradigm, we need more responsibility and more involvement of the decision-making factors, we need openness and we need to promote solid partnerships between the state institutions and the private operators to develop new innovative public transportation services," Bode said at the conference "Intelligent transportation, intelligent traffic."
He underscored that Romania can't afford to go round in circles any longer and the cities must be returned to the people.
According to him, Romania has pretty recently started to analyze the European trends in ecological transportation and urban planning and to integrate the new concepts related to this field.
The PNL (National Liberal Party) Deputy also brought to mind that Parliament adopted a law on the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure - in transposing European Directive No. 94/2014 and Law No. 34/2017.
He pointed out that another aspect, equally important, is represented by the information and awareness-raising campaigns meant to determine a change in mentalities and behaviour.
Lucian Bode underscored on the same occasion the importance of implementing the provisions of the guide regarding the urban mobility plans, in view of accessing European funds, via the ROP 2014-2020.
In his opinion, another problem needing to be solved fast is the quality of the air in Bucharest and in other major cities in Romania.
MP Bode: 'Romania needs to start a new phase, of implementing sustainable infrastructure, based on intelligent technologies'
Romania needs to leave behind the current phase of analysis and evaluation and start a new phase of action and implementation to create a sustainable transport infrastructure by implementing new intelligent technologies, which will increase the citizens' quality of life, nationwide, the head of the Committee on transportation and infrastructure of the Deputies Chamber, Liberal Lucian Bode, stated on Tuesday.
