The interim president of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Sorin Grindeanu, declared on Monday that he would propose in the governing coalition meeting that the date for the Bucharest mayor elections be November 30.
"I saw the statements of the prime minister and those of Dominic Fritz related to the fact that everyone agrees that there should be separate candidacies. I also have a date that I can propose - November 30. So that we can do it faster. Wouldn't it be better to do it faster? Let's do it on November 30", Grindeanu said at the Palace of Parliament.
He declared that in the PSD there are two potential candidates with real chances for this position - Gabriela Firea and Daniel Baluta.
"My proposal is November 30, which I will submit tomorrow to the coalition, after which we will enter into an internal procedure. Today I had discussions with both the president of PSD Bucharest, Gabriela Firea, and Daniel Baluta. These are two people with real chances. We will decide together with the party's Bucharest organization what the strategy is and who the best candidate is ", Grindeanu concluded.
