National Anti-corruption Directorate conducts searches in investigation involving military personnel

Prosecutors from the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) are conducting searches in the Capital City and two other counties on Friday in a case regarding corruption crimes committed by the military, during 2022 - 2023.

According to a DNA press release, AGERPRES is informed that, on Friday, after obtaining the necessary legal authorizations from the relevant court, home searches are being conducted in 22 locations in Bucharest and in Ilfov and Giurgiu counties, one of which is the headquarters of a public institution and the rest the homes of individuals or the headquarters/workplaces of commercial companies.

"Prosecutors from the National Anti-Corruption Directorate - The Service for Criminal Investigation in Cases of Corruption Crimes Committed by the Military, are conducting investigations into a criminal case investigating into the commission, during the period 2022 - 2023, of crimes assimilated to corruption, by public officials and their accomplices," the DNA press release states.

Judicial sources told AGERPRES that raids would also take place at the Joint Logistics Command of the Army.

The investigators would have evidence of the commission of several criminal activities, which would have aimed at unjustifiably and illegally lending a commercial company the amount of approximately 12 million RON, judicial sources said, who indicated that it would have been about works related to the removal of soil and rubble, works that allegedly were not actualy done.

According to the same sources, the commander of the Army's logistics, Catalin Stefanita Zisu, would also be targeted in the file.
