As of 7 April 2025, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin to mark 175 years since the birth of Ioan Andreescu, the Central Bank informs in a press release.
The obverse of the coin depicts a graphic composition featuring a painting palette, the inscription 'ROMANIA' in an arc, the face value '10 LEI', the year of issue '2025' and the coat of arms of Romania.
The reverse illustrates the self-portrait and name of painter Ioan Andreescu, as well as his birth and death years '1850-1882'.
The silver coins are housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by booklets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue and certificates of authenticity in Romanian, English and French. The certificates of authenticity bear the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The maximum mintage is 5,000 silver coins. The selling price for the silver coin, including the booklet and the certificate of authenticity, is lei 580.00, VAT excluded.
The silver coins to mark 175 years since the birth of Ioan Andreescu are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The coins are put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Craiova, Iasi and Timisoara.
