National Culture Day - celebrated in North America with show inspired by work of Marin Sorescu

The Romanian Cultural Institute in New York, in partnership with the Romanian Embassy in the United States of America and the Consulate General of Romania in Vancouver, are organizing a mini-tour of the show "The Retreat", on the occasion of National Culture Day, informs Agerpres.

An original adaptation of Marin Sorescu's book "Viziunea vizuinii" ("The Vision of the Burrow"), starring actress Simona Maicanescu, in tour-de-force of acting, and the musician Mircea Florian, author of the live musical interludes, "The Retreat" is a show created especially for the North American audience and will be presented from January 16 to 19 in New York, Washington, D.C. and Vancouver, British Columbia.

According to an ICR New York press release, sent to AGERPRES on Thursday, the program of the three performances of the show is as follows:

* Thursday - Washington, D.C., at The National Press Club, where the event will be opened by Ambassador Andrei Muraru and ICR President Liviu Jicman, who is on an official visit overseas as president of the European Union National Institutes for Culture EUNIC;

* Friday - New York, at the ICRNY headquarters, with a greeting from the ICR president and the director of ICR New York, Dorian Branea;

* Sunday - Vancouver, at the Firehall Arts Center, with an introductory address by Consul General Gabriel Rotaru.
