The ninth edition of the National School for Democracy (SND), titled "Politics and Policies for All. Political Education for YOUth", organized by the Pro Democracy Association with the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation Romania, will take place in Bucharest, from August 27 to 30.

The event is held in partnership with the Bucharest Metropolitan Library.

"At the end of August, Bucharest will become the capital of education for democracy. The goal of SND 2025 is to prepare a new generation of civic leaders able to understand and defend democratic values, at a time when Romania is facing disinformation, polarization, and declining public trust," the organizers said in a press release sent on Monday.

The program is aimed at young people aged 18 to 25 who are passionate about civic engagement and interested in gaining a deep understanding of how a democratic society functions. Twenty selected participants will take part in interactive sessions and debates on topics essential to the rule of law, including: political systems and ideologies; the difference between politics and public policy; civic participation and community involvement; ethics, transparency, and public accountability; combating disinformation, extremism, and polarization.

Participants will interact directly with experts, activists, journalists, and civil society leaders who believe in democracy and in the role of political education as a tool for building a healthy, resilient society.

Applications are open until August 16, at 23:59, via the form available at https://forms.gle/iUQEH1KaU2cZCTGw6.

The agenda, guest list, and discussion topics can be followed on the event's page: https://shorturl.at/yz2qj.
