The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Mark Rutte, will be in Bucharest on Wednesday and Thursday, where he will meet President Nicusor Dan, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, the President of the Senate, Mircea Abrudean, and the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Sorin Grindeanu.
According to the official website of the North Atlantic Alliance, Mark Rutte will participate in the NATO Industry Forum, where "he will speak about the importance of increasing production in the defence field and the value that close ties with this industry bring".
The NATO chief is also expected to talk with students from the University of Bucharest.
The Presidential Administration informed that the NATO Secretary General will be first welcomed by the Romanian head of state at the Cotroceni Palace, with the two high dignitaries to have a one-to-one meeting and also official talks, after which they will also hold a joint press conference.
Subsequently, the NATO chief will have a meeting with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan at the Victoria Palace, with the President of the Senate, Mircea Abrudean, and, subsequently, with the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Sorin Grindeanu, at the Palace of Parliament.
The visit of the high-ranking official of the North Atlantic Alliance takes place in the context of his participation in the NATO Industry Forum, which takes place on Wednesday and Thursday in Bucharest, an event intended for strategic dialogue with the defence industries of the allied states.
The Romanian President and the NATO Secretary General will participate together in this forum on Thursday morning.
According to the Presidential Administration, the agenda of the discussions between President Nicusor Dan and the NATO Secretary General includes the threats facing the North Atlantic Alliance, especially on the Eastern Flank, as well as the ways to increase Romania's security and collective defence and deterrence capacity.
